2026 MCMLA Annual Meeting

Call For Proposals

Spaces, Places, and People in Health Sciences Libraries

This year’s virtual, one-day MCMLA Annual Meeting centers on how health sciences libraries are evolving and functioning—physically, digitally, and socially. From the spaces we work in, to the places we serve, to the people who power them. We invite you to share how you and/or your library are evolving and/or bringing new innovations to library users, services, and spaces.

Session Proposal Formats

  • Presentations (synchronous 15-minute sessions)
  • Lightning Rounds (synchronous 5-minute sessions)
  • Posters (pre-recorded 2-minute presentations)  
  • Panel Presentations (synchronous presentations, presenters will be notified in advance once the timeline of sessions is determined.)

Who Can Submit

  • Submissions are open to both MCMLA and non-MCMLA members, including part-time library employees and library program students
  • Awarded submissions to non-MCMLA members will include free attendance to the 2026 MCMLA Annual Meeting

Before Submitting

General Proposal Areas

  • Spaces - physical libraries, virtual environments, research hubs
  • Places - communities, campuses, user outreach
  • People - all library staff, researchers, students, clinicians, patrons

Sample Proposal Topic Suggestions

  • Novel uses of digital or physical technology within library spaces that impact library services or library users

  • Library science student experiences of translating work done within library curriculums to practice with working in health science libraries

  • The innovative use of library space as a resource, especially for designing or redesigning new library spaces

  • Professional development opportunities, innovations, or efforts for positions that do not require an MLIS degree

  • Creating physical and digital community spaces for those who work within health sciences library spaces

  • Responsible uses of new or existing technological innovations to enhance or supplement human led library work

Submit a proposal abstract via the Microsoft Form by 5PM CST, Friday, July 31, 2026

2026 MCMLA Annual Meeting Date

October 1, 2026 via Zoom
