Call for Abstracts - 2023 MCMLA Annual Meeting

  • 05 May 2023
  • 17 Jun 2023

The MCMLA Research Committee invites paper and lightning talk abstract submissions on any health sciences librarianship topic for the 2023 MCMLA Annual Meeting.

The theme for this year’s meeting is “Smart Solutions”. The meeting will take place virtually from October 19-20, 2023.

Deadline for submissions is June 17th. Early submissions are welcomed and appreciated. Acceptance decisions will be sent out by August 15th.

Submission to present at the MCMLA Annual Meeting is open to members and non-members of MCMLA. Papers will have approximately 20 minutes for their presentation, while lightning talks will have approximately 9 minutes. For accepted submissions, at least one author should be in attendance in order to present at the virtual conference.

Submission of work that has previously been presented at MLA but not at an MCMLA Chapter meeting is welcomed and encouraged for this year’s meeting. Both program descriptions and research projects are encouraged. Feel free to forward this announcement to potentially interested parties that may not have received this email.

This year the MCMLA Research Committee requests submitters to identify the type of abstract and presentation they intend to share if accepted. There are two (2) possible categories for submissions:

Research Abstract: Traditional library research; abstracts should be structured and include the following sections:

Objective

Methods

Results

Conclusions

Program Description Abstract: Non-research presentation, typically about programs or creative ideas being done in libraries; abstracts should include the following:

Background

Description

Conclusion

Please ensure you select the appropriate category for your proposed presentation. The Research Committee will be using separate rubrics for each category so if you are unsure about which category your abstract would fall under, please reach out to the Research Committee Chair, Abbey Griffith.

Deadline for submissions is June 17th. Early submissions are welcomed and appreciated. Acceptance decisions will be sent out by August 15th.
