Registration and Hospitality:

Registration and Hospitality occupy adjoining tables in the St. Nicholas Foyer on the 2nd Floor of the Hilton Omaha Convention Center Hotel and will be staffed during the following hours:

Hours:
• Friday, October 12 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Saturday, October 13 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Sunday, October 14 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Monday, October 15 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, October 16 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

The Hospitality table offers one-stop shopping for information about the historic Old Market, Omaha area sightseeing and cultural attractions, transportation information and directions, churches and synagogues, dining and restaurant reviews, as well as information about walking routes, fitness activities, shopping, entertainment, and collegiate and professional sports.

Internet Café:

Conference registrants can take advantage of no-cost Internet access at the Internet Café adjacent to and open the same hours as Registration and Hospitality. In-room access to wired and wireless high speed Internet access is not included in the basic hotel room rate but is available for an additional charge of $9.95 per day.

The opportunity to network is an important part of every professional meeting. In addition to program sessions, the 2007 Midcontinental-Midwest Chapter Meeting will offer many opportunities for networking in a relaxed social setting. Plan to meet colleagues at the following fun events.

From McGoogan with Love
Welcome Reception – Saturday, October 13– 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

“From Russia with Love” is considered to be the best of the 007 films. From McGoogan with Love also promises to be a 007 conference highlight. The 2007 Welcome Reception is sponsored by and will take place at the McGoogan Library of Medicine. Renovated four times since 2000, the library is an excellent example of what can be done with existing space. A light buffet will be served, along with complimentary beverages and chocolate desserts to die for.

 

The Mainstream Jazz Quintet will provide musical entertainment and newly renovated Rare Book Rooms will be open for viewing. Round trip buses depart from the hotel main entrance every 15 minutes from 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Your conference registration badge is your ticket to admission.

 

 

Honors and Awards:
Welcome Reception - Saturday, October 13– 7:45 p.m.

Midcontinental and Midwest 2007 Honors and Awards will be presented at 7:45 p.m. during the Welcome Reception at the McGoogan Library of Medicine. Please join in congratulating colleagues from both chapters who are being recognized for their outstanding professional achievements.

 

 

 


Taste of Omaha Dine Around Dinners
• Sunday, October 14 - 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Monday, October 15– 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Although you probably won’t dine with billionaire Warren Buffet, you can visit Gorat’s, his favorite steak house. You can also sample runzas, Rueben sandwiches, and Lithuanian torte. Dine around dinners will give visitors an opportunity to sample the best of Omaha cuisine, which offers mouth watering possibilities for every taste and budget. Even 007 would find something to please his sophisticated palate.

Sign up sheets will be posted at the Hospitality table; each dine around will be hosted by a knowledgeable Omaha foodie. Space at some restaurants may be limited due to seating or transportation.

Whether you dine around or dine on your own, the 007 Musical Nightcap offers a gathering place to come back to Sunday evening. T. Scott, Kenny O, and the sinuous Rebecca Graves are Midcontinental legends, living proof the talents of health sciences librarians are not limited to information service. A cash bar will be available but no purchase is necessary to enjoy this fun event.
