Special Events

The opportunity to have Judith Messerle as a Keynote Speaker…not just once but twice will just about blow you away. Each day will be a whirlwind of presentations, decisions, conversations…but we also want you to enjoy the little time you have to spend in Topeka. Some of the special events we have planned are listed below and some we are just going to keep to ourselves and you'll just have to be here to discover for yourself.

Prairie Rendezvous: A Banquet at the Kansas History Museum

Sunday evening hop on one of the Topeka Trolleys and "Go West" to the Kansas Museum of History. Surrounded by prairie and woodlands, the Kansas Museum of History will provide you with a glimpse of Kansas' colorful past. You will see a full-sized Cheyenne tipi, a fully stocked covered wagon along with the museum's centerpiece, an 1880s locomotive from the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad.

Just for you…the Kansas History Museum's Special Exhibit will be: Everyone Needs a Hobby: Kansas Collectors and Collecting. This exhibit will feature collectors and museums from all over Kansas through special objects, colorful photographs, and interesting personal accounts. It will explore the human drive to accumulate things while spotlighting some amazing Kansas collections.

A buffet fit for the First Lady will be served from 6:30-7:30 p.m. We have selected Peach Tree Catering, who provided food for First Lady and First Librarian Laura Bush's recent visit to the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library's Opening Gala. You will have a chance to sample some of the same delights!

Western Buffet and Fun Night

Monday evening we hope you will "circle around" with us and just have some time to enjoy old and new acquaintances alike. The event will be hosted in the hotel and dress will be casual. So kick off your good clothes and come down comfortable, hungry and ready to relax and have a good time.
