Membership InformationWhat is MCMLA?Midcontinental Chapter of the Medical Library Association (MCMLA) is a chapter of the Medical Library Association (MLA), a professional organization of individuals and institutions in the health sciences library field. MCMLA provides an opportunity for discussion of regional and local interests and for continuing education in health sciences librarianship. The chapter includes the states of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. MCMLA operates with bylaws, elected officers, and committees. Representatives from MCMLA also serve on various MLA committees and councils. Who is eligible for membership in MCMLA?Membership is open to any individual working in or interested in hospital or health sciences librarianship -- including persons in mental health, pharmaceutical, dental, and veterinary libraries; medical records departments; and health-related industry. Why should I join MCMLA?To participate in and receive information on activities centered around the shared interests of the membership. To participate in the annual meeting. The MCMLA annual meeting is held each fall at a different city in the chapter's region. The annual meetings offer exciting speakers; discussions on national, regional, and local issues; sharing of information; continuing education courses; and contacts and friendships. To receive the chapter newsletter, the MCMLA Express, published quarterly. It enables you to advertise a job opening or seek new employment. It keeps you apprised of regional and MLA activities and educational opportunities, library legislation, availability of fellowships, and new publications.
