The Research Committee encourages and facilitates research activities within the Chapter. We provide Research Resources, and we award the Best Paper and Poster Awards at each Annual Meeting.
In early 2010, the MCMLA Research Committee surveyed the membership to explore librarians’ experiences with conducting research and to indentify research support needs within the region. Results were presented at MCMLA 2010 and included in the Fall 2010 MCMLA Express.
The majority of respondents had not been involved in research. Concerns were raised primarily around issues of time, financing, and specific research skills, such as research design and data analysis. Providing training classes and research tools were seen as desirable actions for the MCMLA Research Committee.
