The MCMLA Research Committee invites paper, lightning talk, and poster abstract submissions on any health sciences librarianship topic for the 2024 MCMLA Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place virtually from October 16-18, 2024. Deadline for submissions is July 8th

Submission to present at the MCMLA Annual Meeting is open to members and non-members of MCMLA. For accepted submissions, at least one author should be in attendance in order to present at the virtual conference.

Posters will be accepted again this year and will be available for drop-in viewing throughout the conference.

Submission of work that has previously been presented at MLA but not at an MCMLA Chapter meeting is welcomed and encouraged for this year’s meeting. Both program descriptions and research projects are encouraged. Feel free to forward this announcement to potentially interested parties that may not have received this email.

This year the MCMLA Research Committee requests submitters to identify the type of presentation (paper, lightening talk, or poster) and type of abstract (research or program description)  they intend to share if accepted. Descriptions of the "research" and "program description"  abstract formats follow:

Research Abstract: Traditional library research; abstracts should be structured and include the following sections

      • Objective
      • Methods
      • Results
      • Conclusions
Program Description Abstract: Non-research presentation, typically about programs or creative ideas being done in libraries; abstracts should include the following:
      • Background
      • Description
      • Conclusion

Please ensure you select the appropriate category for your proposed presentation. The Research Committee will be evaluating based on the type selected. If you are unsure about which category your abstract would fall under, please reach out to the Research Committee Chair, Abbey Griffith (agriffith@kansascity.edu).

Deadline for submissions is July 8th. Early submissions are welcomed and appreciated. Acceptance decisions will be sent out by August 16th.
